Magazine Ideas

Initial Ideas

I want to base my school magazine appearance on the school colours, I had done my research and found out that the school colours consist of navy blue, green and yellow; I decided to alter the school colours for my magazine so instead of uses the original school colours i have decided to use the colours blue and white instead, I believe this is a lot more neater than the original colour concept and it looks alot more smarter which in turns suits the whole ideology of a school magazine.

I also wanted to create a Title that would be catchy and one that rolls of the tongue really easily but I was stuck for ideas. I wanted  to use a word that was well know by youths but also had to be formal enough to be understood by adults; so I settled for the word "Buz" I believe this word fitted by criteria quite impressively, finally to make the name more associated with the school I decided to take the Beaver out of "Beaverwood" and add it to the "Buzz" to create "BeaverBuzz" which would now serve as the title of my school magazine.

Finally I had to decide on which type of font to use for my magazine, since I knew  that typography was a very important part of trying to reach to your target audience, which were girls  between the ages of 11-18 since Beaverwood is a girl school, so I decided to use a girly font but then I realized that this may persists as a problem seeing as there are some boys in the 6th form and using an overly girly font could be seen as unprofessional and thus would not be accepted by the parents who may read the magazine. eventually I decided to use the "Showcard Gothic" font because this font is the fits the criteria above, it has a sense of girly-ness but yet not overly girly and somewhat professional looking.
